Hey you fans of the scandalously sexy television show Desperate Housewives, we’re giving you plenty of time to clear your schedules and set your DVRs for Marc Cherry’s newest show, Devious Maids. This time around Eva Longoria is an Executive Producer, so you know that things are going to get hot as four latina ladies find themselves working for the movers and shakers of Beverly Hills. The show will debut on Lifetime on June 23rd at 10 eastern / 9 central.
Inspired by the popular Mexican television show Ellas son la Alegría del Hogar, an initial order of 13 episodes was put in by Lifetime in 2012 and there’s a strong belief going around the business that the show will be picked up for a full 2nd season. The show looks to test strongly in the international market and the stamp of Marc Cherry may ensure a built-in audience of Desperate Housewife fans, especially since Devious Maids is set in the same fictional universe as its predecessor!
Filmed in Georgia at the EUE/Screen Gems facility a few short miles south of the state capital in Atlanta, Devious Maids is just a part of a huge new wave of television productions being produced in the state, and more are on their way. The BET production Being Mary Jane was shooting on the Screen Gems lot at the same time as Devious Maids and confidence was running high that that smart pilot would be returning as a full series as well. The post-apocalyptic series Revolution is said to be leaving its production home of North Carolina, but rumors that that the show will be returning to Atlanta (where the pilot was shot) may prove incorrect; Austin, Texas, has been named as a potential destination for that show.
