Despite the issues surrounding his production facility, Tyler Perry’s brand name continues to shine as evidenced by the media outlets he’s been spotted in during his recent promotion for his third film, “Daddy’s Little Girls,” which was filmed in Atlanta this past fall. Some of the more interesting appearances (besides the obligatory chat with Regis Philbun) include a 45+ minute interview with Gayle King on XM Radio’s Oprah & Friends channel and tonight’s feature interview with Tyler Perry on ABC’s Nightline.

Despite the impending pressure of the shooting schedule for the 2nd season of “House of Payne“, Tyler has been taking extra time to put himself out there for “the rest of America” to listen to, look at and consider. While only a few minutes in length, Nightline’s feature provided a look at the forces shaping Tyler’s world. From his special video messages to his faith-filled female followers to the tight criticism of his black contemporaries in the world of theatre.

In both his radio and television interviews he discusses the rags-to-riches story of his successful rise to the top and how in many ways he seems bound to remain a Hollywood Outsider. With Gayle King trying to play matchmaker to his amusing fear, not of marriage, but of alimony, it’s a sure bet that his audience is increasing.

Atlanta’s happy to have him, regardless of what Hollywood thinks.
